Han Sai Por (b.1943), Singapore

Sculpture, Granite and stainless steel
Location:  Ascott Raffles Place Singapore Level 1, Singapore

This trio of sculptures exemplifies Han Sai Por’s exploration of coupling stone with stainless steel, allowing these materials to encounter each other in a dramatic way. Han often uses simple elementary forms in her work. Here, a slab, a drum and an egg-shaped block, all polished granite, have streaks of mat stainless steel expressed in the form of liquid dripping down, providing a sharp contrast with the static stone. There is a sense of anticipation of what will evolve.
