Ketna Patel (b.1968), Uganda - United Kingdom

Old Doors - Jalan Singapura

Collage, Mixed media on canvas, 90x90cm , 2008
Location:  Ascott Raffles Place Singapore Level 19, Singapore

One of two works of Patel specially acquired for Ascott Raffles Place, Old Doors - Jalan Singapura captures the nostalgia of old Singapore through doors and windows of its historical buildings and some street names. The artist combined many images on a grid panel, which was then lacquered over to produce a mixed media artwork of vivid colours. The title suggests Singapore as a street which viewers can literally walk along, simply to admire the diversity of its old doors!
