Bedok Residences

Bedok Reservoir (Adagio; Scherzo; Staccato)

Painting, Acrylic on canvas, 300x120cm , 2014
Artist:  Brendan Neiland (b.1941), United Kingdom
Location:  Bedok Residences Level 1, Singapore

Neiland had soaked in the atmosphere of Bedok Reservoir before executing this triptych in his UK studio. Each painting has the water of the reservoir as its subject, with fragments of the dragon boat or parts of its paddles included to hint at the location – dragon boat sport is a common sight at the reservoir. With masterly paint strokes and a subtle colour palette, the artist has captured vividly the shifting ripples of the water and fascinating reflections of the boats, providing music to our ears.
