Raffles City Tower

The Flight

Sculpture, Bronze with patina, 230x600x390cm , 2013
Artist:  Etienne (b.1952), France

Location:  Raffles City Tower Level 1, Singapore

Specially commissioned by CapitaLand for Raffles City Singapore, this sculpture of a flight of seven birds spreading their wings in formation, speaks of liberty, peace, joy and hope. Each bird is of a different size, with the four larger ones tilting their bodies dramatically and providing elegant visual contrast to the three smaller ones above them. This graceful sculpture on a pond exudes a dreamy tranquility amid the hustle and bustle of city life.

Artist’s Biography

Etienne has a degree in plastic arts. His works are exhibited internationally and collected by private collectors, institutions, and corporations. He worked with marble, stone and wood initially, but soon opted for bronze, which he felt allowed him to deal with solids and hollows better. Etienne’s works strike an organic balance between mass and space.
